How did you first become aware of/involved with Belmont University?

We are both native Nashvillians so we have been aware of Belmont for a number of years. I (Kelvin) became actively involved at Belmont when I was asked to lead campus recruiting at Belmont when I was a manager at Ernst & Young roughly 20 years ago. Jane Finley asked me to join the advisory board for the accounting program soon after I started recruiting at Belmont, and I’ve been serving on the advisory board ever since that time.

Why do you want to support Belmont?

We strongly believe in the mission of Belmont University and will have a daughter attending Belmont this coming fall.

Why are you supporting scholarships in accounting?

Belmont has an exceptional accounting program, and it’s also been a richly rewarding career for me personally. Also, I’ve been working in the Nashville healthcare community almost my entire career and have found that accounting is a great springboard to executive level positions within the healthcare community.

Is there a specific experience you’ve had at Belmont that inspired your gift?

I don’t think it was any specific experience but more a collection of experiences over the course of several years. Of course, having our daughter decide to attend Belmont was probably the pivotal moment for us.

Why would you encourage others to give to Belmont?

I think we all have a duty and responsibility to return a portion of what we’ve been richly blessed with to institutions like Belmont and others that serve a greater good. Belmont is a treasured institution of our city and is committed to training our future leaders and instilling in them the values and principles that can shape our world for the better. We can’t think of a better investment to make than to fund a scholarship at Belmont.
